Our wonderful Hosack library provides students and staff access to materials in a variety of genres and subjects to enrich their love of reading. In addition to print books, we also have ebooks that students can access using our catalog, Destiny Discover. Using TigerID, students access Destiny Discover to view both our print books and our ebooks. Students can then use their account to checkout ebooks while at home or at school—both during the school year and throughout the summer. They can also view their checkout history and create a list of favorite books that they have read.

In addition to ebooks via Destiny Discover, students can also access ebooks via SORA, an application hosted on their TigerID dashboard. SORA is powered through both the Allegheny Intermediate Unit and Northland Library, a Carnegie Branch Library. Because students attend North Allegheny School District, SORA comes with no cost to the student. To access, students will simply log into TigerID, choose SORA, choose North Allegheny School District, and begin their search.

North Allegheny also provides access to a number of subscription databases such as the Pebble Go collection, World Book Encyclopedia, Access PA/Power Library, CultureGrams, and World Almanac for Kids. These resources are available both at school and at home. Information about these resources can be found under Elementary Online Resources to the left on this page. Logins for these databases are available through your child's library class in Canvas.

Each week, students attend library classes taught by Mrs. Lamm. Book exchanges, story times, the Celebration Book Club, March Book Madness (grades 3–5), the Summer Reading Program through Northland Library, author visits, our annual Mock Caldecott contest, and other reading activities support the development of literacy. Classes in first through fifth grades will receive a report card grade at the end of each semester. We also host two book fairs a year where all money raised goes to purchase new books for our library and materials for activities for our school.
